Cómo elegir y cuidar los cepillos para cejas

How to properly clean brushes after eyebrow dyeing or henna application?

After you've completed the dyeing process and no longer need the brush, it's recommended to wash it immediately or at least soak it in a glass of water. This prevents the dye or henna from drying and damaging the bristles.

When washing the brush, use soap and clean it in the direction of the bristles. Avoid making circular motions on your palm, as this can cause the brush to lose its shape and quality. Once the brush has been thoroughly cleaned and clear water comes out when gently squeezed, you can leave it to dry on a towel or cloth.

What should you do with eyebrow dyeing brushes? It's essential to disinfect a clean and nearly dry brush every 2-3 weeks. You can do this with a 0.05% chlorhexidine solution or a special disinfecting solution for brushes. Make sure the solution doesn't contain alcohol, as it can dry out and damage the bristles.

How to properly use brushes when working with henna and dye? Mix the dye with the oxidant and henna with water using a separate spatula, brush, or mixer. Be sure not to use the same brush you use for shaping.

When choosing an eyebrow brush, rely on the same principles as when choosing other makeup tools:

    1. Bristle stiffness and length. Brushes can vary significantly based on manufacturer characteristics, and this can be utilized for different tasks. With a stiff synthetic bristle, you can quickly and precisely apply color and create clean, neat lines. This material usually lasts a long time, rarely sheds, and is easy to clean. Stiff bristles allow for applying the product densely and combing the hair simultaneously. Soft brushes are suitable for a lighter and blended makeup look when there's no need to create intense color or sharp lines.

    2. Handle material. Here, personal preference matters. Some may find wood more comfortable, while others prefer plastic. However, it's worth noting that handles that are too thin or too thick can be uncomfortable to use.

    3. Bristle material - natural or synthetic. Despite the advantages of natural brushes and their popularity, for eyebrow dyeing, it's better to choose a quality synthetic bristle. In practice, synthetic bristles perform significantly better, last longer, are less affected by colorants, and are easier to clean as they don't absorb cosmetic components. This is also a better option for people with allergic reactions.

    4. Brush head width. Consider the features of your brows - if they are thin, achieving even and precise dyeing with a wide one-centimeter brush might be challenging. Without a doubt, with practice, it's possible to master this, but it's much more convenient if the brush closely matches the width of the brows, which is why brow artists usually have a complete set.

    5. Brush cleaning. When choosing a brush, consider its cleaning process. You can wash brushes with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser after use or use a special brush cleaner. The gentle cleanser is specifically formulated for disinfecting cosmetic brushes. It effectively removes all textures without drying out the bristles. It's ideal for both synthetic and natural brushes.
